Submitted by dlfa on Wed, 09/08/2010 - 4:15am.

When things are going right, the offensive line is regularly overlooked. When a line struggles, everyone notices. That was the case for UNLV's veteran front five on Saturday in a 41-21 loss to Wisconsin at Sam Boyd Stadium. On Tuesday, the veteran group had a chance to sit and see just what went wrong on film.

Submitted by dlfa on Wed, 09/08/2010 - 4:05am.

One of the teams in this week’s high school football rankings will not make the postseason. Five schools from the Henderson-based Southeast Division are part of the Sun's 10-team rankings, and since only the top four finishers from each league make the playoffs, the regular season will be the end of the road for one quality program.

Notebook: Hauck likely to remain mum on Rebels' starting QB

Submitted by dlfa on Tue, 09/07/2010 - 4:15am.

A week ago, in his first press conference of the 2010 season, UNLV coach Bobby Hauck made it clear that junior Mike Clausen would start the Rebels' opener at quarterback. On Monday, that same question could be answered with one word on the updated depth chart: 'or'. That word separates Clausen and senior Omar Clayton atop the QB listings in the two-deep for Saturday's afternoon tilt at Utah.

Submitted by dlfa on Sun, 09/05/2010 - 4:30am.

Even when UNLV was within striking distance of No. 12 Wisconsin at halftime on Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium, trailing 17-14 and riding a wave of momentum, the red flags were there. Well, it was really just one major red flag from the halftime stat sheet. Total offensive yards: Wisconsin 279, UNLV 12.

Submitted by dlfa on Sun, 09/05/2010 - 4:29am.

Considering how close of friends UNLV quarterbacks Mike Clausen and Omar Clayton are, it's always been hard to consider their competition for the starting job a "controversy." But whatever it is, it's still on.

Instant analysis: Despite loss, Hauck has Rebels headed in right direction

Submitted by dlfa on Sun, 09/05/2010 - 1:27am.

Everything first-year coach Bobby Hauck has installed in the program has a purpose behind it. One of his biggest messages since being hired last December is paying attention to detail — whether that’s keeping helmets in a line during warm-ups or executing a play during a crucial moment of the game.

Economy, high travel costs keep some Wisconsin fans away

Submitted by dlfa on Sun, 09/05/2010 - 1:14am.

The poor economy and high Labor Day weekend travel costs probably kept some Wisconsin fans away from the UNLV game this year, but Sam Boyd Stadium still was just about 4,000 short of a sellout, school officials said.

Rebels, No. 12 Badgers closing in on kick-off at Sam Boyd Stadium

Submitted by dlfa on Sat, 09/04/2010 - 9:30pm.

It was assumed for quite some time that when UNLV and No. 12 Wisconsin met at Sam Boyd Stadium to open the 2010 season, the desert heat could be somewhat of an x-factor. Now, it appears that will definitely be the case. The sun is setting, but temperatures are still in the triple digits and aren't expected to cool much once it's dark.
